Fionntrá beach is protected from the elements, facing east/southeast onto Cuan Fionntrá, an inlet of Dingle Bay. The sandy beach is surrounded by sand dunes covered with marram grass and wetland and grassland beyond. Kerry County Council regulates activities according to the Beach Bye-Laws of 2013. Fionntrá is situated in the South Western River Basin District and is about 7km west of an Daingean.
The main activities at the beach are swimming and walking. Regulation and control of a range of activities on the beach are dealt with under the Kerry County Council Beach Bye-Laws.
Fionntrá Beach is located within Cuan Fionntrá (Ventry Harbour), in close proximity to the village of Ceann Trá on the Southern side of the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, in the South West of Ireland. The full extent of the beach is approximately 2.5km in length, however, the identified bathing waters comprise only 400m of this. Fionntrá is approximately 7km west of an Daingean.
Fionntrá is a relatively sheltered sandy beach facing due east/southeast onto Cuan Fionntrá. Cuan Fionntrá is a sheltered inlet of Dingle Bay.
