Traught, Kinvara is located in Galway. During the bathing season, a lifeguard is on duty, 12-6 7 days July & Aug weekend June/Sept. The beach is equipped with toilets and a parking lot. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. The beach is accessible to guests with disabilities.
Traught Beach is a sprawling sandy beach that slopes gently with shingle on the upper shore and sand/mud on the lower shore. It is home to a diverse range of fauna and flora, including shellfish and birds, with occasional sightings of seals and otters along the coast. Traught Beach is situated within the protected areas of Galway Bay and Inner Galway Bay, designated for bird conservation. Visitors can enjoy swimming, bathing, windsurfing, and angling.
Swimming and bathing are popular activities in the summer months, with some surfing also undertaken if waves are suitable. There is occasional good shore angling off the rocks behind the pier, and the pier itself when the mackerel are running and the tide is in. There are also sea angling boat trips organized locally from the pier. Traught Beach Bathing Area is located outside Kinvara Town on the shores of Galway Bay in the Kinvara Water Management Unit of the Western River Basin District. The beach is approximately 450 metres long with a bathing area of approximately 900m2
